This Privacy Policy explains how test4 ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects personal data. It applies to the information we collect when you request a quote, become a customer, or use our website and services.

1. Data we collect

We collect contact details (name, email, phone, postal address), information about your property and electricity use that you provide when requesting a quote, and the documents you upload to support your order (electricity bills, identity verification, property documents where required by local regulation).

We use this information to:

prepare and provide your quote and any subsequent order;
arrange the design, supply and installation of your system;
submit required applications to the local distribution operator, energy authority or grant body where applicable;
communicate with you about your project, after-sales support and warranty claims.

3. Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of the contract we enter into with you (or steps prior to entering it), our legitimate interest in operating our business, and your consent where required for marketing communications.

4. Engagement analytics

When we send you a quote or offer by email, that message may include a small invisible image (a single-pixel image request). Loading the image tells us that the email was received and opened.

When you view the offer page we record which bundles you viewed (e.g. "Smart Start", "Everyday Balance"), how long you spent on each, whether you changed your selection (panel brand, battery option, finance scenario), whether you opened the financial-projection panels (the IRR box, the 30-year cashflow chart), how far you scrolled, whether you clicked "Accept offer & continue", and — past the accept page — which form steps you started, which you completed, and the names of fields you filled in. These events help test4 understand which offers and which financing options are most relevant to you and follow up appropriately.

What we record: a one-way hashed identifier derived from your IP address (the hash rotates every 24 hours and cannot be used to track you across days), your approximate device class (mobile / tablet / desktop), your browser and operating system family (e.g. "iOS Safari" — never version numbers), your country (two-letter code only; sometimes a wider region such as a country-of-the-UK or a German Land, but never your city), the entry source (email / sms / direct / other — never your full referring URL), and a timestamp.

What we never record: your raw IP address, the values you typed into form fields (only the names of fields you interacted with — for example "filled the address field" but never "filled the address field with [your address]"), your city or street-level location, or the full URL of the page you came from. Field values reach test4 only after you click submit on the order form; nothing typed and then discarded is sent to us.

Lawful basis: Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). test4 has a genuine interest in knowing whether a quote was received, whether you engaged with it, and which financial scenarios were most relevant to you, in order to prioritise follow-up and tune which products to recommend. This interest is proportionate to the limited, behavioural-only data we collect.

Retention: raw engagement records are deleted after 90 days. Aggregated (anonymised) counts used for reporting are retained for up to 24 months. Records of any objection you raise under Art. 21 are retained for 6 years as evidence of compliance.

Sub-processor: engagement data is stored by Turso (LibSQL) in EU-region infrastructure. The offer pages are served via Vercel.

Your right to object: you have the right to object to this processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR. Every offer email we send includes a one-click opt-out link in the footer. You may also write to us at {{partner_contact_email}} to request that your engagement data be anonymised. We will action objection requests within 30 days.

5. Sharing

We share data with our suppliers and subcontractors only as needed to deliver your project (e.g. the distribution operator for grid applications, the manufacturer for warranty registration, the grant body where applicable). We do not sell personal data.

6. Retention

We retain personal data for the period required to perform our contract with you and to comply with applicable legal obligations (warranty, accounting, regulatory record keeping).
